Welcome to Rosetum Lodge

Rosetum Lodge No. 4476 is a Masonic Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). Its history is rooted in the traditions of Freemasonry; one of the world’s oldest fraternal organisations. Rosetum Lodge has its quarterly meetings at the fabulous Mark Mason’s Hall in the heart of St James’s, Mayfair in Central London.

The Context of Freemasonry in the 20th and 21st Century

During the early 20th century, Freemasonry was a significant social institution in the United Kingdom. The post-World War I era saw a resurgence in the formation of Masonic Lodges, as many returning servicemen sought out the camaraderie and moral values that Freemasonry offered. The 1920s, in particular, was a period of growth for Freemasonry in England. Today Freemasonry is seeing a resurgence win some lodges, as people seek both camaraderie and a return to a more analogue and rewarding pursuit.

Activities and Traditions

Rosetum Lodge, like many others, would have been involved in the regular activities of Freemasonry, which include:

Regular Meetings

The Lodge meets regularly to conduct Masonic rituals, ceremonies, and to discuss Lodge business.

Charitable Work

Freemasonry is well-known for its philanthropic efforts, so the Lodge engages in charitable activities, supporting both local and national causes.

Fraternal Fellowship

Members gather for social events and to foster the bonds of brotherhood that are central to Masonic life.

Current Status

As of today, Rosetum Lodge No. 4476 is still active, continuing its traditions and welcoming new members into the fraternity. The Lodge operates under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England, which oversees Masonic activity in the country and ensures that Lodges adhere to the principles and practices of Freemasonry. It meets at Mark Mason’s Hall for regular meetings, four times per year, each of them on the third Saturday of the months of January, March,
June and September.

We also have regular social meetings and there are Lodges Of Instruction, where we get together to learn our various rituals.

“What I like about Rosetum is that guests love visiting us. They always say it is fun to guest at our lodge and the chat and fraternal banter is unique, within a format that can sometimes come across as a bit old and stuffy.”

Andrew Robinson

Director of Ceremonies and Mentor, Rosetum Lodge
